UPDATE: With my main work being medicals - both pilots and seafarers - I am finding I am often able to see people within days of their request, and, not infrequently, even the same day if urgent. While my main clinic is each Wednesday & Thursday at Lucerne Rd, Remuera, and the various other clinics are on Fridays, I will set up appointments at Remuera almost any day of the week as needed (and could, if it was necessary, even do weekends). This is consistent with the standard of care that I believe should be provided whenever possible.

Transport Canada: I am able to revalidate existing certificates via a video consultation - every second medical. Contact me for this: $300.00.

This is particularly useful if you need a blood test - I can send you the lab form and know where the result will be (a big problem now I am not in a regular surgery clinic). There is no SkyCert fee for this. If you really don’t want to use SkyCert (or are not an NZCAA medical) you do not complete the full assessment - just open it. When you have done this once it will stay open and available for years if not completed, and we can shuffle lab forms and results in and out.

Laboratory fees: blood tests are not funded by the Ministry for occupational or employment medicals. I am now finding that even when I state that it is a funded medical the labs are saying ”He’s an aviation doctor, not funded.” The basic test is now costing about $140. Your own doctor can order tests for you that are funded as a general medical service, but you must ensure that I get the results, in PDF format, so I can copy them over. For NZ: lipids & HbA1c (if you have hypertension, also Potassium, Creatinine, Urate). FAA and Canada have no regular blood test requirements. I am investigating doing POCT (on-site testing), but current setup costs look like there would be little saving from the lab costs.
