Welcome to NZAVMEDS
I am Dr Anton Wiles, and with the assistance of my wife, Bron, we look forward to providing your aviation medical services.
I joined practice with Dr Bill Daniels (a very experienced and well-known Aviation Medical Examiner) and Nurse Keren Nelson (many years of avmed experience) in 2001, and immediately started study for the Diploma of Aviation Medicine. I gained this by 2004, but was able to start performing NZ-CAA medicals by 2003. Since then I have added Australia, USA, Canada, and Hong Kong. For a while I was also performing UK/EASA, Qatar and Fiji, but the cost of remaining designated outweighed the number of applicants seeking them, so I can no longer perform these.
I remained in Remuera until recently, but changes have made me seek my own business model. Initial bookings will be at Hamilton Airport. From April 2025 I expect to be in my own clinic in Auckland, and will be looking to provide services at various locations depending on availability of suitable space - the options include Central Auckland, North Shore Airfield, Ardmore Airfield, Ruapehu, and possibly near to Auckland Airport. Visits to Central Otago in March are a future possibility for pilots seeking Transport Canada certification, and I am prepared to travel for groups of at least 8 pilots at a time (there will be a surcharge for travel costs). (Hamilton,North Shore and Ruapehu clinics will be 3-monthly initially, increasing as demand warrants more.)
Please note as below: bookings will be mainly through the SkyCert program, but those who do not have a login to SkyCert can email us directly.
Until NZ CAA decides exactly what they will be using, I can still use the old, paper-based system for those who prefer that.
Most bookings (for whatever country you are applying to be certified with) can be made via the SkyCert program. The available locations and dates/times will be found through that. Email if you cannot find an appointment when you really need one, or do not have a SkyCert login - I do have flexibility and expect to be able to fit in with most requirements.
I go skiing in North America from late-January to mid-February each year, so please try to plan your medicals around this. There will be other weeks when I am not available, but the skiing trip is generally for 3 to 4 weeks.
